THE STORY / IN POOJA’S WORDS
There are really no guesses as to what I’ve made in this painting. Yes, it is me and my sister rhea. My mom guessed it the first time i showed her one of the GRWM versions. I didn’t respond to her. Why ruin this surprise for Rhea? This shows two girls talking to each other. The one on the left is Rhea and the one on the right is me. Now, rhea has this constant complaint that I don’t listen to her whenever she’s speaking to me. So in this painting I’ve drawn myself completely fixated on Rhea’s ramblings even though that might not be the case in real life.
Rhea and i are just like any other sibling duo. Can’t live with each other and can’t live without each other. For all those who know us, also remember our horrible fights when we were children. I used to throw rhea out of the room when my friends came home ( and her friends suffered as well when my friends were over ). After all, the older sibling has to have some authority, isn’t it?
I used to keep nagging her to clean our room when we were sharing one. She kept telling me to stop acting like her mother. Ever since I’ve moved out, the room is kept spotlessly clean. It’s like she was just waiting for me to go so that she could do this.
Rhea and Karun always team up against me when we meet. Let’s not forget my cousins. They think it’s a big laugh to tell my husband what a mean sister i was ( rather, still am). How do i explain to these guys that I’m the nicest person with a very good heart ? These guys just don’t see it. Karun also very quickly changes sides when he’s with my sister.
Rhea and i have been on a few coffee dates. In that Rhea has spoken to me. Rhea I’ve heard you, trust me. It’s just that I’m so distracted in life that I’m not able to keep my eyes on you.
Despite being sister, we are as different as two people could be. When we were younger, the only thing we had in common was braces and acne. We used to ask our mother why didnt she just give us up for adoption.
On the bright side, rhea, I’m very lucky to have you as my sister. This painting is an ode to the gossip sessions we have had at night when we were younger. Only the coffee was missing.
