A Quiet Temple in Kinnaur

This is an oil on canvas i did in the months of November 2025 to mid feb 2026. Yes,it took me so long. I would like to call this my best work yet. The key word being yet here because i feel that i am capable of a lot more. I have to have this level of self confidence i feel. Else there is really no point in doing this. This is a painting of the Shiva temple in Rakccham village (Kinnaur District of Himachal Pradesh).Karun and i had visited this place in May 2022. When i was looking for the subject of my second oil painting, i turned to Karun and asked him to give me ideas. He gave me this mammoth of a reference. At that point i did not realise that this painting will take up 3 months of my life. I will not lie, i have cursed him many times while making this but once it was done, he was the first one to know. I thought of posting this painting many times. I kept waiting for the right moment, right platform, right time and what not. I thought, what if this does not get the recognition it deserves on instagram? I thought about posting this on my birthday ( day before yesterday ) but that would have flopped miserably. People would have wished me a happy birthday in the comments instead of seeing what i have made. So today, a random day having no significance to me, i have decided to put this post up. Why ? Because there is no right time or day. If it’s supposed to work, it will work at any time. This painting is currently hanging in my house’s entrance. I am lucky to be living with people who encourage my art. We all sit together and find the best place in the house where my paintings could be put up. There is a chance that i may not exhibit ever, but my own house is slowly turning into my personal gallery and i couldnt be happier.
